June 2020 Color Challenge

Each month my leader challenges her team to make a card using very specific rules and colors. I have participated in these color challenges for over a year now and it has helped me grow in my designing and is so much fun!  Here’s the specifics: Use only the 3 colors given, and Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock and Black Memento Ink can be used as well.

June’s Challenge included the colors Melon MamboHighland Heather and Pumpkin Pie .  Here’s what I came up with.

I choose to make a sunburst card this month!  It is one of my favorite techniques, because it looks amazing and takes very little time or skills to make!  Shall we get started?

Here’s the video tutorial

Grab your favorite Paper Trimmer and cut 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock, 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" card base and 3" x 5-1/4".  Choose 2-8 pieces of coordinating cardstock and cut them 1-1/2" x 4".  Cut these pieces in half, at an angle from the top corner to the opposite bottom corner.  I used cardstock and the coordinating ink color and stamped my own DSP using the new Comfort & Home stamp set.

For assembly, take the 3" x 5-1/4" piece of Whisper White and place it over a Silicone Craft Sheet.  With a ruler, lightly mark your center with a pencil.  Run your adhesive around the edges - as close as you can get, and make an "X" in the center.  I recommend using a tape runner adhesive such as Stampin' Seal verses a liquid adhesive for this.  Take your first piece and line it up with the center and stick it down.  Don't worry about the overhang, we will take care of that in a bit!  Just make sure that you cover ALL of the white cardstock.  Take your next piece and attach it next to the first.  Continue until you have placed 8 pieces down.  Turn over and use the back as a guide to trim off the excess scraps using Paper Snips.  Place the sunburst onto the base and stamp your sentiment using the Ornate Thanks stamp set.  Adhere the sunburst above.  Add ribbon, glimmer paper, foil paper, or cardstock across the seam.  I doodled around the outside using the Basic Black Stampin' Write marker to finish this card.

Enjoy!  If you make this card, please share it with me!  I LOVE it when you recreate my projects!  It Blesses my Heart!

Happy Stamping!

Message me with any questions.  I am always happy to help!

Blessings,

Niki
