May 2020 Color Challenge

Each month my leader challenges her team to make a card using very specific rules and colors. I have participated in these color challenges for over a year now and it has helped me grow in my designing and is so much fun! Here’s the specifics: Use only the 3 colors given, Whisper White or Very Vanilla cardstock and black Momento ink.

May’s Challenge included the colors Gorgeous Grape, Melon Mambo, and Coastal Cabana. Here’s what I came up with.

I choose to use a fun triple fold card design and created my own patterned paper using the Floral Essence Bundle. To create this card I cut a sheet of Gorgeous Grape cardstock 5-1/2" x 11", then scored it at 1-1/2", 4", & 6-3/4". Cut remaining Grape piece 1" x 9-1/2", for the belly band. Save a scrap for behind the sentiment as well.

Choose any coordinating colored DSP or stamp your own and cut it at 5-1/4" x 8-1/2". Cut this down to (3) 1-1/4" x 5-1/4", (1) 2-1/4", (1) 2-1/2".

Accordion fold the cardstock and crease well using a Bone Folder. Layout all of the pieces and adhere to the cardstock.

Stamp your sentiment, fold the belly band over the card and adhere the band together. I added a bow using my favorite ribbon and some Rhinestones.
